Shorty Combs Park
Opened 1997 and located just south of Highway 2 at East 18th Avenue, Shorty Combs Park—is named in honor of longtime resident and community figure Hobert Combs, affectionately known as “Shorty”. This pleasant 2-acre neighborhood park features a basketball court, a playground with swings, expansive open space, and covered picnic tables and benches, making it a perfect spot for casual recreation and neighborhood gatherings.
Cleveland Park
Cleveland Park, opened in 2009, is a charming 2-acre neighborhood park located at 335 South Campbell Street in Airway Heights. Named after Lt. Col. Terry Cleveland, a retired Air Force officer and local school teacher, this park includes age-appropriate playgrounds for pre-kindergarten and elementary-aged children, a short paved walking path, benches for relaxing, and large open areas ideal for neighborhood children to enjoy casual play .
Traditions Park
Located in the Traditions subdivision at 508 South Lawson Street, Traditions Park opened in 2009 and spans one acre. This cozy neighborhood park features a small playground, an open grassy area perfect for soccer, football, or casual play, and a concrete sidewalk that circles part of the park’s perimeter.
Landreth Park
Landreth Park, opened in 2014, is Airway Heights’ second-largest park at 8.5 acres. Named in honor of the Landreth family for their generous land donation, this scenic passive park offers 0.3 miles of paved walking paths, outdoor fitness equipment, and wide-open spaces ideal for neighborhood children to enjoy casual play, and adults to enjoy relaxation, light exercise, and connecting with nature.
Highland Village Park
Officially opened to the public in 2025, Highland Village Park is the city’s newest and smallest park, covering just 0.75 acres. Located at West First Avenue and Venne Street, this compact neighborhood park features a vibrant new playground, covered benches and picnic tables, and a small grassy open space perfect for informal play.
Recreation Complex
The Airway Heights Recreation Complex is home to the amazing Airway Heights Recreation Center, and also features 8 acres of outdoor athletic fields. These fields support a variety of Parks & Recreation youth and adult sports leagues, including soccer, flag football, and soon baseball/softball. The complex also includes a basketball court, and a large covered shelter with panic tables.
Tree City USA
In 2003 Airway Heights was named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation to honor our commitment to our community forest. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. Airway Heights continues to receive this national recognition by meeting the four standards to become a Tree City:
- A Tree Board or Department
- A Tree Ordinance
- A Comprehensive Community Forestry Program
- An Annual Arbor Day Observance
John Rosenow, president of The National Arbor Day Foundation said. “It shows the people of Airway Heights value trees for the beauty, grace, comfort, and practical blessings they bring” he added. “Tree City USA honors the countless men, women, and children in Airway Heights who are working hard to ensure a greener, healthier tomorrow for us all.”
The City of Airway Heights parks system is currently comprised of 5 parks encompassing 23.11 acres. Phase 1 development of the Recreation Complex on Deno Road is in construction adding another 7 acres of park space this year.
