The Airway Heights Community Center offers a wide range of social services to the community in partnership with various non-profit and other community-oriented organizations. These programs include but are not limited to:
Airway Heights City Hall
City Hall is a great place to get general information about all of the offerings of the City. They are located at 1208 S Lundstrom St and can be reached at (509) 244-5578.
Airway Heights Police Department
The Airway Heights Police Department is located at 1307 S. Ziegler Street. We serve over 8,000 citizens over about 6.5 square miles on the West Plains in Spokane County, Washington. AHPD provides 24 hour a day, 7 days a week patrol coverage. The office is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM and can be reached at (509) 244-3707.
Airway Heights Fire Department
Airway Heights Fire Department was formed in the early 1960’s to provide fire protection to the incorporated areas inside the City of Airway Heights. Today, the Airway Heights Fire Department protects over 8,000 people and an area of 6.5 square miles. The Airway Heights Fire Department responds to all emergencies within the City limits and to emergencies in other cities and fire districts when requested. They are located at 1208 S Lundstrom St and can be reached at (509) 244-3322.
Airway Heights Library
The Airway Heights Library is one of 10 libraries in the Spokane County Library District. Books in the Library District’s collection ‘float’, meaning that if you want a book from another county library, it will be sent, free-of-charge to the county library you choose for pick-up. The Airway Heights Library offers events and programs for all ages from Storytime to social security workshops and everything in between. The Library also features on-site technology including Wi-Fi, computer stations, printers, and commonly-used software, as well as free use of the meeting room. They are located at 1213 S Lundstrom St and can be reached at (509) 893-8250.
Sunset Elementary
Home to 400+ students in preschool through fifth grade, Sunset Elementary has been a vibrant part of the Airway Heights community since it was built in 1951. Serving as one of the hubs of community activities in Airway Heights, Sunset has an active and supportive PTO and promotes parent and community involvement. Sunset’s caring and professional staff work very hard to create a positive learning environment and to assure quality achievement for all students. ECEAP (Early Childhood Education Assistance Program)
ECEAP is a community based, family centered comprehensive preschool program for low-income families that have three and four year olds. ECEAP sessions are Monday through Thursday 8:30AM – 11:30AM & 12:30PM – 3:30PM. Call (509) 244-4833 for more information.
SNAP
SNAP provides services for low income families and vulnerable people in the following areas: Economic development, emergency assistance, energy assistance, rental housing, mortgage assistance, home repairs, conservation education, weatherization, and a long-term care ombudsman program. Depending on the type of service, clients are referred to the SNAP neighborhood office which serves their ZIP code area, or to a specific program office. WIC (Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program)
WIC provides health and nutrition risk screenings, nutrition education, redeemable grocery store checks for nutritious foods, and referrals to other community services and organizations. The WIC program is offered every Monday and Wednesday 8:00AM – 5:00PM at the Community Center. Call (509) 244-9334 for an appointment. Service is limited according to available funds and degree of medical or nutritional risk for pregnant mothers or their infants and young children to age five (all receive medical screenings).
