Community Member Spotlight: Tammy Rigsby
Tammy Rigsby
Tammy Rigsby has been an active member of the Airway Heights community since opening her State Farm Insurance office in 2010. Tammy planted her business in Airway Heights because, while so close to Spokane, Airway Heights offered a small town feel, a community of camaraderie, and familiar faces. Within 6 months of opening her doors, Tammy was approached to be a charter member of the newly formed Airway Heights Kiwanis Club. Kiwanis appealed to Tammy with its simple vision of helping children, and where better than where she had just established a new home. During her time with Kiwanis Tammy has played in instrumental role in helping develop events and activities that have become traditions here in Airway Heights, such as the Trunk or Treat, Breakfast with Santa, and our beloved Watermelon Races.
Her involvement in the community didn’t stop with her business, or Kiwanis. After finding boxing with her physical therapist was helpful in dealing with her battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Tammy founded the Spokane Chapter of Rock Steady, a boxing program designed to help those with PD FIGHT BACK! Her first mission with Rock Steady was find a home for the group. She immediately reached out, and partnered with Airway Heights Parks & Rec to offer the class at the Rec Center. Since starting the program in 2019, Tammy has helped countless individuals and families improve their quality of life through boxing.
Now after 13 years, Tammy is officially retiring. In such a short time in Airway Heights, Tammy Rigsby has done amazing things to help people, and make this community better.
Thank you for everything you have done for our community Tammy. You are incredible!
