DUCKS TAKE TO THE WATER

In 2022, the Airway Heights Aquatics Team will build on their very popular swim lesson program with the new, youth swimming team, the Ducks. The purpose of the program is to introduce the next step in swimming to graduates of the current swim lesson program. The program format for the Ducks, is to introduce more technique, conditioning, and new stroke styles.

The addition of the Ducks Swim Team will also further develop positive, constructive, and healthy outlets for the youth in our community. Bringing the team aspect to a sport often viewed as an individual or a “just for fun” activity, opens doors for participants to see success while working with others with the same passion. It also paves the way for high school and collegiate swimming. It’s so much easier to work hard in the pool with a team rather than all alone.

The Ducks will start this winter primarily training, working to develop skills and proper stroke technique, and an understanding of swimming as a sport, not just an activity. As the team grows and skills develop, the next step will be to host an intra-squad meet, allowing the team to put their hard work into action and celebrate their accomplishments. In addition to an intra-squad meet, swimmers will be encouraged to enter local open swim meets and represent the AH Ducks Swim Team.

Registration is now open for the Ducks! Team members must be 6 to 17 years old, complete the Level 3 swim lesson, and be able to complete 25 yards of the front crawl and breaststroke without needing assistance and without hesitation.
