Director’s Letter – Summer 2024
First let me start by saying, Happy 5th Anniversary! It is hard to believe that it has been 5 years since opening the Recreation Center. May 4th, 2019 we opened the doors to our wonderful Recreation Center for our community, building on our mission of Creating Community and Quality of Life Through People, Parks, & Programs. Since opening, we have seen thousands of faces come in and seek their opportunity for fitness and a healthy life, to have fun with their families in the pool, and to engage in activities that provide a chance to socialize with friends. Much of this is made possible by our amazing staff and their dedication to providing a clean, safe, welcoming place to all those that walk through our doors.
As we continue to fulfill our mission, we are dedicated to building a strong, vibrant, and resilient community by being a catalyst for positive change in overall health and well-being. Normally most of us talk about starting fresh or starting new at the start of the year but fresh starts can happen any time- there’s no schedule or rules of when you can start fresh on something. Many of us are feeling energized by warmer, sunnier weather and longer days. A fresh start is a clearing of the mind, body, and/or soul, making way for new things.
At some point, life opens up opportunities to begin again, to regenerate and re-imagine how we are living life. If you have found yourself letting those health and fitness goals slip since the new year, this can be the perfect time for a fresh new start. At the Rec Center you are surrounded by a community of like-minded people all striving to live a better fuller life. Life wants to be lived to its fullest potential, and it will nudge you again and again until you are reminded of who you’ve always wanted to be and what you’ve always wanted to do.
In addition to our 5 year mark here at the Rec Center, we are celebrating the people that create a sense of belonging: our loyal members and hard working staff. They are the people who help foster a sense of belonging across our community by offering a welcoming environment for all, and extending a warm invite to newcomers as we continue to embrace our ideal of being the place where everyone belongs, and the place where community grows.
Thank you,
J.C. Kennedy
